 Bio:
I have been doing makeup since I was in middle school; attacking my friend’s with ambush makeovers. In high school, I needed to express my obsession with cosmetics, so I joined the drama club to do theatrical makeup for our school’s various productions. Then I shortly became the makeup director. In college, I couldn’t escape my love of makeup, so I started to incorporate it into my assignments for art school. Photography became an outlet for me to truly capture the works I created in makeup. After graduating with a BFA in Digital Art in 2006, I worked on dozens of freelance projects doing hair and makeup throughout the state of Georgia. Then I came across, PinUpGirl! Cosmetics when it was in Little 5 Points over 3 years ago. I was hired as a shop girl who did makeup on the side. Then I was given the position of store manager where I performed as a makeup artist and photographer. In the summer of 2009, after a year of having had the shop relocate to Grant Park, I became owner. My goals are simple for myself and my company. I would like the shop and our brand to keep expanding to an online store and have multiple locations around North America and possibly the world; reminiscent of our favorite fashion houses. I would like to broaden my career in makeup, hair styling and photography with more varied and unique projects involving film and television.

Why she ROCKS:
I rock because every time I do makeup, it’s so exciting to see the transformation on a client for their everyday look, into vintage glam. I rock because it rocks to see them so excited and so pleased with themselves.

PinUpGirl! Cosmetics offers an array of services including make-up, photo, and even private parties. Check out their entire list of services and prices at www.pinupgirlcos.com. Make a great gift for a special lady or to treat yourself!

BIO & GOALS:
Born and raised in Atlanta, GA. I didn’t grow up with a mother who wore much makeup but for some reason it intrigued me. I would always experiment with different things as a child. Always wanting to go up to the Eckerd’s and spend my allowance on lipstick and face masks. I grew up in the punk rock scene and saw all sorts of crazy eye makeup as well as hairstyles and clothing which really got my mind rolling. I was always into art but never knew how to put it on paper so I started putting it on faces. Mostly mine… until my friends asked me to start doing their makeup at the age of 12, maybe younger. After that, my passion came alive and I started working for a photographer named Paul Amodio at the age of 16 and kept practicing on my face as well as my friends. As the years have gone on I have learned new tricks, new looks, tips, etc. I have worked for several photographers, MAC cosmetic counters, weddings, salons, TV, and fashion shows as well as Kris Melton of Rock Fist herself! My goals are to continue to be inspired by rock and roll, fashion designers, nature, as well as women of all skin tones, and really take my artistry to the next level. I also plan to get my certification in Permanent Makeup. I hope to never get sick of what I love and to continue learning new things everyday.

Why she ROCKS:
I love trying new things…things you wouldn’t necessarily see on someone in church, ya know? Something you might see at a show or art gallery or maybe even something inspired by the 40’s, 50’s, or 60’s- but crazier. I think people are sometimes afraid of the unknown. I think some people need to be pushed to open their mind a bit and see some newer, crazier, FUN looks. I want people to realize they don’t have to take themselves too seriously and they can still look rockin’.

Tyler Capehart

Tyler Capehart

Bio & Goals:
I like Punk Rawk, PBR, Pepperoni Pizza, and old skool video games: (Turtles in Time, Duck Hunt, Bubble Bobble, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Tetris). I have a degree in Film & Television from the Savannah College of Art and Design and have been producing videos for over a decade. D-I-Y (Do It Yourself) I slowly started off working as a solo act and as I built up credibility I’ve contracted other artists to collaborate with.

“Cinematography is infinite in its possibilities… far more so than music or language… if it can be written or thought… it can be filmed”- Tyler Capehart

I had goals, and well, some were accomplished, some are still in the process. Regardless I’m just living….
-continue to produce films & photography
-start or find another band to sing for & play guitar/trumpet
-produce and shoot the feature zombie film I wrote
-start a summer tour within the US that consists of my friends bands

Why he rocks:
Music fuels my soul’s engine. I live my life for music & I will die doing what I love. I stand out because of my dedication to the music scene and my drive to keep it alive by documenting it for future generations. I want to live on Tour. I love the road… I’ve have toured countless times with many bands, but a few of my favorite moments on the road come from working with festivals. Touring with Van’s Warped Tour was absolutely remarkable. I learned so much from Kevin Lyman and Lisa Brownlee that I hope to someday start my own tour. Touring with Community Records taught me the real DIY lifestyle of traveling independently and to be honest I loved every second of it.

I did a photo shoot with a Playboy Playmate last December
(this is my favorite photo from the shoot)

Free-lance Photographer (In other words, if you can think, dream, or produce an idea, I can shoot it). I have worked on Big and Small weddings. I have worked with Entertainers, and Models. I have also shot one of a kind family photos (not the Walmart in front of a back-drop kind).

Bio & Goals:
I have been shooting artistically for 15 years. Professionally for 7 years. I have always felt that music and writing were inside me. I have several projects in the works. 1st and foremost, I want to complete a photographic novel of everyday people, their tattoo’s and the positive reflection that the art can have. I also hope to start a new project in the coming year offering free photo’s to any child or family suffering from a terminal disease. I believe in supporting local musicians as often as I can. I try and get out a few times a month and shoot live performances of local bands and give them copies of the shots. Dream Job- Freelance photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine.

Current Project:
I am working on a book. I am looking for positive people, doing positive things in their life with one of a kind tattoos representing something special in their lives. I only ask for your story and release. In exchange I will give you photo’s for free of your session with me. Put your story together and email me details about your life and your tattoo’s. I would love to see if your life will fit in my book.

Bio:

This large, centrally-located, creative space is available for recording sessions, live rehearsals, video and photo shoots. We specialize in the recording of big, live, loud rock and roll, and we do it VERY well! But anyone, any style, any sound…. All are welcome.

We have a GREAT sounding, large live room with 25-foot high ceilings!!! Drums track GREAT in this room! We can get any drum sound you want, from John Bonham-roomy and huge, to Don Henley-dry and tight! We have vintage drums, new drums, stacks of snare drums and cymbals… any drum sound you can think of! Our collection of guitar amps and effects pedals is large, and always growing! Whether you prefer warm vintage flavor, or modern high-gain crunch, low-wattage combos or paint-peeling full stacks- we can do it all! We also have a great-sounding vocal booth, two iso-rooms for guitar cabs, etc., a balcony lounge overlooking the main room, and a very comfortable and great-sounding upstairs control room, also overlooking the whole studio!

We have ProTools (of course!), but here’s the FUN stuff: We have a 32-input vintage Soundcraft 600 recording console, with GREAT-sounding EQs on every channel! We also have some VERY nice mic pre-amps, including API, Joe Meek, Altec Lansing, dbx, and custom-built Neve-copies! There’s also FMR/RNC, Distressor, and dbx compression, Racks of gear by Avalon, Joe Meek, vintage Altec Lansing, Empirical Labs(Distressor), Universal Audio, Chameleon Labs, PreSonus, Heil, AKG, Samson, Sony, Aphex, Audix, CAD, EV, Groove Tubes, Ampex, Sennheiser, Shure, Yamaha, Roland, White, MXL, Carver, SSL, MoreMe, a Studer A-80 2″ 24-track tape machine–amazing for tracking drums (additional tape costs required), a Tascam 1/2″ tape machine for mixdowns (an optional service, tape cost additional), control room monitors by Roland, Samson, Event, JBL, and Behringer, a brand-new 6-channel Furman headphone monitoring system! And we’re always adding more gear as fast as we can!

room

Be sure to take a look at all our photos on Myspace or Facebook! The entire studio has a great sound, great gear in every corner, and most importantly, a very relaxing, inspiring, creative vibe. Say goodbye to clinical, nervous, intimidating, sterile recording experiences!

We have old Marshall, Ampeg, Vox, Fender, Roland, Danelectro, Orange, Polytone, and Univox. FUCHS Audio has built us some amazing new custom guitar heads and pedals! We have kick drums ranging from 18″ to 28″; we have toms from 6″ to 18″, shelves full of snares and cymbals of all sizes. We have two upright pianos, a Hammond organ, A Rhodes electric piano, microKorg. We are total gear fanatics, so our collection is always expanding!!! And if there’s a specific or unusual piece of gear you need that we don’t have in-house. We have an ongoing partnership with Avatar Events Group, the biggest gear rental company in town, which gives us discounted rental access to just about ANY amp, keyboard, drum, or other music gear you may need, and it’s all literally right down the street!

room2

Local bands, solo artists, regional and national acts looking for a place to write/rehearse/demo/track a single or an entire album/overdub- Whatever you’re trying to accomplish musically, we can help make it happen for you!

It is also an EXCELLENT space for photo and/or video shoots! Great lighting and colors, a large mirror wall, interesting and varied backgrounds, great angles from the balcony….. The pictures on our photo pages are nice, but you have to SEE the place to truly appreciate the vibe we have here.

l_16c6b62c995344a4a3183c6e5690cbdb

Recently Bruce has been co-producing, engineering, mixing, and bass-ing on new material with James Hall, and he just finished recording and mixing a new The Lord Is My Shotgun album, (out now, check their page)! He also recently finished projects with Bouldercrest Singing Group, Day Mars Ray, and Alias Patrick Kelly (the very busy bassist for The Goodies! Open Sky Separators, The Greater Vavoom, and The Warm Gunns). He has been tracking lately with Atlanta instrumental/ prog-rock band Sorry No Ferrari, and 2-piece punk rock with Jesse Nobody. Bruce also shared engineering duties with Mike on the new Apocalyptic Visions album. He also recently finished up a batch of new songs for Spectralux and Dig Your Hole, and in his pre-Open Sky Studio days has worked with The Goodies!, Uncrowned, Heather Luttrell, Jimmy Gnecco & Ours, the Sudden Rays, Grand Moff Tarkin, Te Ju Belle, Armazilla, Clocked In, Moonwater, Heroine (the drag-less alter-ego of the infamous Atlanta band Impotent Sea Snakes), the 185Cool Collective, 5 More Dead.

Mike and Bruce also split the engineering duties a few months ago when Atlanta metal heroes/ Grammy-nominated MASTODON were in the studio to track a cover song for a nationally-televised video game advertisement….. Look for the EA video games TV commercial for the new game “ARMY OF TWO”! (on television or on YouTube) Mastodon also did extensive pre-production and preliminary recording for their just-released new album with us, and the studio will be featured on their upcoming “making-of the new album” DVD!

We also have several high-caliber local Atlanta session players on-call (at additional cost) who are very skilled, work fast, and are well-versed in a variety of styles. So if you’re a solo artist, singer/songwriter, or even a band that’s currently minus a member or two. Don’t worry! Not a problem! We can STILL help you complete a GREAT sounding recording!l_a87681c0336441e9a1d69f19b9fff1cd

We also do a lot of “e-sessions”. If you have already recorded guitars, vocals, etc. for your songs, but need some huge-sounding drum tracks, bass tracks, etc., just send us the session files on hard drive or DVD, and we can track great-sounding drums/bass/whatever to it without you even having to be present!

We have our own in-house guitar, bass, and drum technicians who are available (at additional cost) to intonate, tune, set-up, or repair your guitar, repair your amp, repair and tune drums… anything to help you create the best possible sounds for your recording!

We are flexible and probably can find a way to work within almost any budget and any schedule.

Examples of our work can be found on our Myspace page player, or featured on the web pages of most of our clients.

To discuss your next recording project with us, contact us on Myspace, Facebook, send an e-mail to: mikemover@mindspring.com  or call Mike or Bruce (contact info listed above).

Bio & Goals:
In 2002 when owner Tim Daust decided to start Reelmind Studios he had only one goal in mind. That goal was to entertain people through the medium of motion pictures. Tim’s love for music jump started his career while building reputations with Atlanta’s most talented and admired musicians. Tim teamed up with Atlanta music producer Chris Unck. The duo started working together when a last minute idea presented itself to make a live DVD for Injected, which turned out to be a success with the band’s fans. In 2004 Reelmind Studios completed production on a second live DVD for the band Injected before the band left Island Def Jam Records just a short time later. A year later Reelmind Studios completed production on a live DVD for the band The Tom Collins, shortly after the group disbanded and the project was shelved. With two projects dead in the water Tim continued to bring to fruition his dream of being a film maker. He produced a television pilot in 2007 and directed another live DVD for home town hero Butch Walker entitled: Leavin’ the Game on Luckie St. This DVD was released on Power Ballad Recordings in early 2008. The latter half of 2008 was spent researching Tim’s first feature film and early this year Tim directed Chris Unck’s debut video “Turning Knives into Steam” for his new record “Ridiculous! Ridiculous!”

What to expect in the future:
Tim’s first feature film is currently in pre-production. The film is based off of a novel about alien abduction and is set to shoot a 7-10 minute snippet of the film in October 2009. This snippet will be used to spark interest in the film while production is completed on the feature. Reelmind Studios is currently in post production for a second DVD for The Tom Collins. The DVD was filmed at their 10 year reunion show in August. In late 2009 Tim will also be producing a documentary for the band Injected not yet titled and will hopefully be released early next year.

Why he rocks: Why does anybody rock? It’s in your soul. (Usually us folks at Rock Fist like to add our own two cents here, but we LOVED his answer!)
